The Main Hall is the oldest building in the Western Precinct of Hōryūji Temple. Inside, there are various buddhas, including the famous Shaka Triad, which dates back to the early days of Buddhism in Japan. A fire damaging the murals inside the hall led to the passing of the Law for the Protection of Cultural Properties in 1950.
