In 1259, a poetry gathering was held upon a visit of the retired Emperor Gosaga (1220–1272) to the Kitayama mountain villa of a court noble in power. This record is the oldest extant transcription of the poems composed at the gathering. It is a precious work also for being made of decorated paper from this time period.
